Introduction : Also known as ‘celestial trumpet’, field bindweed is a herbaceous plant of the Convolvulaceae family, with a twining, angular stem, from the morning glory family that contains tropane alkaloids from the Solanaceae family. Its pink flowers with white bands are 1 to 3.5 cm long and have fused petals that meet in a funnel shape (characteristic of the genus Convolvulus). The calyx is glabrous and has rounded lobes. Generally, the patterns of this flower vary from one place to another, but in the oasis of Nefta, the bindweed flowers all bear striking white pentagram-shaped markings. Unlike most sun-loving plants, which rotate with the sun from left to right, this plant does the opposite.
